Oracle Rdb Hot Standby Performance Test Results

چکیده
With the release of Rdb version 7.0, Oracle offered a powerful and economical new solution to the reliability problem that has confounded data processing professionals from the earliest days of computing. Because of disk drive failures, the data we store in “persistent” storage isn’t really persistent. Disasters beyond our control—fires, floods and explosions—can destroy whole computer systems. The impact of the reliability problem is severe. Organizations that suffer total loss of critical computer systems may never recover.

Analysis of Stochastic Model on a Two-Unit Hot Standby Combined Hardware-Software System
This paper deals with a stochastic model for a two-unit hot standby combined hardware-software system in which one unit is operative and the other is hot standby. The operative unit may have hardware or software failures and goes to repair. This leads to degradation of the system and then hot standby unit is under operation. Further on hardware or software failures of the hot standby unit the s...
متن کاملAvailability of 3-out-of-4:G Warm Standby System
Standby techniques are used to improve system availability. Usually, a k-out-of-n:G standby system is assumed that when an operating component fails, a standby component becomes active and the system is working if at least k components are fault-free. In general, there are three types in component standby, i.e., cold, hot and warm standby. Cold standby implies that inactive components have a ze...
متن کاملWarm Standby in Hierarchically Structured Process-Control Programs
We classify standby redundancy design space in processcontrol programs into the following three categories: cold standby, warm standby, and hot standby. Design parameters of warm standby are identified and the reliability of a system using warm standby is evaluated and compared with that of hot standby. Our analysis indicates that the warm standby scheme is particularly suitable for long-lived ...
متن کاملPerformance Measurement and Tuning of Hot-Standby Databases
General-purpose, high-availability database systems have lately proliferated to various network element platforms. In telecommunication, databases are expected to meet demanding availability levels while preserving the required throughput. However, so far, the effects of various high-availability configurations on overall database performance have not been analyzed. In this paper, the operation...
متن کاملRelational Database Migration: A Perspective
This paper presents an investigation into approaches and techniques used for database conversion. Constructing object views on top of a Relational DataBase (RDB), simple database integration and database migration are among these approaches. We present a categorisation of selected works proposed in the literature and translation techniques used for the problem of database conversion, concentrat...
